Last summer I got together with Nina and Max from the innovative, British eye make-up brand Eyeko to create a short make-up film. We were fortunate to collaborate with photographer and filmaker Chris Floyd and we persuaded Jessica Pain (who Chris had just shot for Agent Provocateur) to be our star.
I’ve got a large, light, airy house so we thought we’d shoot the whole thing there (plus Chris lives down the road) and like all of my favourite jobs, it had a school project vibe, the make-it-up-as-you-go-along freestyle, trusting in the osmosis of a lifetime of iconic films and beauty icons in the forefront of our nerdy minds to guide us..
For me, when it comes to eyelash icons, it’s ALL about Twiggy, Marisa Berenson, Jean Shrimpton and Jane Birkin…
And of course, the original eyelash queen- Peggy Moffitt, screen-grabbed here from William Klein’s ‘What’s up with You Polly Magoo?’
Chris liked my bedroom and decided to shoot the whole film in bed. A blonde. In bed. Wearing eyeliner. Well there’s Brigitte Bardot, seen here fully made up on bed…
But in the end, it was Marilyn who got the gig as MUSE.

Ladies and Gentlemen, enjoy the movie!
